Emmanuel's 90th Birthday

Emmanuel Church opened its doors in 1935, so to celebrate 90 years of spreading the Gospel and reaching out to the local community we are organising a number of events throughout the year.  We kicked things off over our birthday weekend,  1 & 2 February 2025 with a few hundred people joining us for some events and our Sunday service.  Below is a list of the future events we have planned for the coming year.  Please book the dates into your diary for now and check back here later when registration will open.

Saturday 21 June 7pm– Thank you to the Berrylands Belles and the Lucy Benson school of dance singers for a wonderful concert!

Saturday 30 August 4pm – BIG thank you to Carol and Ridvan for hosting a delicious BBQ and well done to housing us on inside due to the rain!

Saturday 11 October 7pm – The Bible, archaeology & science: Facts and Fictions.  Join an Oxbridge-trained scientist and archaeologist as he takes a hard look at the Bible from a sceptic’s starting point.  In a lively two-part event, he explores intriguing questions, including:

• Has archaeology uncovered actual people from the Bible?

• Does science reveal a universe that reflects the God of the Bible?

• Or is it all just a powerful delusion?

Before the talks, explore a unique exhibition of Ancient Near Eastern artefacts – tangible pieces of history that will fascinate both adults and children alike.

What exactly are we to make of the Bible?

Talk begins at 7pm BUT doors will open at 5.30 for people to view the exhibits and speak with experts about them. Children and young people welcome (although the main talk is not suitable for young children).

There will also be a competition to identify items referred to throughout the talk and a £50 prize for the winner!

Wine and beer will be available to purchase, along with free nibbles (crisps, pretzels), tea, coffee and squash.

This promises to be a really engaging evening.  The event is free but we are asking people to sign up for catering purposes.

 Please sign up here.
