At our recent youth leaders and parents prayer meeting, we were talking about the issues surrounding social media, phones and the internet. We thought about how technology is moving on so rapidly and young people are being exposed to it at a younger age than ever before. Therefore, as Christians, how can we help our young people use their phones to glorify God? As parents, how much access should we have and what boundaries do we need to put in place? All of these things require wisdom and so we prayed….for lots of it!

A helpful article from the Gospel Coalition picks up on some of these things. In sharing this, I am in no way saying that young people shouldn’t have phones as technology is a good gift to be enjoyed by God. But it’s about using God given wisdom in how we use it. This article raises some points to think and pray through…https://blogs.thegospelcoalition.org/trevinwax/2017/01/31/why-our-son-doesnt-have-a-smartphone/

Whilst chatting to parents at the meeting, we were discussing the possibility of having an evening where we can focus more on some of these issues and have some Bible teaching from youth ministers. If this is something you would be interested in, please chat to Mellissa
