Relevant and Accessible

Our Sunday service is at 10.30am and there are plenty of other activities through the week. Find out what's on.

Our services are relevant and accessible to people today and feature Bible teaching which helps us live with a real faith in the real world.  We especially hope that children and young people as well as everyone of all ages will feel very much at home.

Part of a community with a family feel

We encourage everyone to join in with one of the many home groups in our church – a great way of making friends and growing in active Christian living.

While there are many very big churches in London where it is easy to feel anonymous or even just be a “pew-filler” who turns up but does little else, we hope that at Emmanuel you will value the opportunity to be part of a warm and close-knit community with a family feel where there is an opportunity for everyone to be involved – both in serving God and in growing in faith.

If you are exploring faith for the first time, we’re delighted to welcome you and want to support, encourage and pray for you as you make your spiritual journey. We offer various courses and activities that we hope will be of interest – but please help us to help you too, and feel free to ask questions any time.

We hope you’ll enjoy being with us! If there is anything we can do to help you feel at home, please just let us know.

Our Strategy

 A Christian church...

Emmanuel is first and foremost a Christian church, believing that life – and death – only makes sense in the light of the most basic Christian confession of belief that "Jesus Christ is Lord".

We believe that on the cross Jesus died in our place, taking the punishment we deserved, so we can find forgiveness and a fresh start.

Following Jesus means forgiveness for the past, purpose for the present and hope for the future! Our allegiance to the gospel comes above loyalty to any groups, organisations or even denominations.

Of evangelical conviction...

Emmanuel is a church of evangelical conviction. By this we basically mean that, when it comes to matters of theology, we regard the Bible, in keeping with longstanding Christian belief, as our fully reliable guide for what we believe and how we behave, and our ultimate authority in these matters (as opposed to, say, custom, tradition, experience or human reason).

This is because it is the answer to the question, “How do we find out what God wants us to do?” We seek to have the same attitude to Scripture that Jesus himself demonstrated.

Part of the Church of England

Emmanuel is part of the orthodox mainstream of the Church of England and the worldwide Anglican communion, upholding Christian belief as expressed in the Book of Common Prayer and the Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion, and willing to “contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints” (Jude v3). Gospel truths are so precious that we want to see them safely passed on to future generations!
